About Me:

My name is Rosemary Norris-Southward and I was born, raised, and still live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I was 13 when my 24 year old brother disappeared in October of 1974. Jimmy’s disappearance had a huge impact on my life and when I grew to be an adult and had children of my own, I finally realized on a visceral level just how devastating it must have been for my mother to lose her son this way. By imagining my mother’s anguish, something stirred deeply within me and finding my brother became one of my life’s purposes. Now that my family knows what happened to Jimmy and his remains have been buried here at home I want justice for him and my family. I believe that insofar as closure is possible, it will come when my brother’s killer(s) have been made to answer for their crime.

Today I am considering ways that I can use this experience to support other families with missing adults. I also want to lobby for the government-funded programs that are vital to the process of locating the missing and identifying the unknown deceased.

My family and I are grateful to the team of investigators at FDLE and to Major Scott Harden of the Dixie County Sheriff’s Office for their diligence and dedication as they aggressively work the criminal case. We are also very grateful to Ken Perez and Crime Stoppers of Citrus County and Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. In particular I must mention FDLE Special Agents Mike Kennedy and Dave Wilson by name; they are the ones who delivered my family this miracle and will always be considered our heroes.
